Bennington, VT, Columbus Day Weekend 2012

So much to see and do and hike on a cloudy weekend in Bennington, VT. Covered bridges, lots of hiking trails, historic homes, museums, churches, and general hanging out with long-time friends. Toured Hildene, the home of Robert Todd Lincoln, Abe’s son, and his descendents (who died out in 1985 – no more Lincolns). Robert was Chairman of the Pullman company, and there’s a luxurious Pullman railroad car on the grounds.  And an amazing pipe organ in the lobby, with the pipes built into the grand staircase. Bennington Monument, Robert Frost’s grave, an exhibit of Grandma Moses’ paintings, plus Bennington Pottery. Oh, and some fall foliage, too! Thank you, BashPearls.
