Rose Kennedy Greenway, 8/31/14

Amazing what the Big Dig hath wrought! It took many years and billions of $ to tear down the Central Artery that cut through Boston, walling off the harbor from the city, then submerge the highway underground. And what happened to the ground? A necklace of parks – the Rose Kennedy Greenway – stretching from Chinatown to North Station. What used to be creepy surface roads under the Central Artery highway, a dark, ominous no-man’s-land  is now open, blooming, with fountains, flowers, and children, a carousel and picnics. Bustling, lively, thriving – a miraculous transformation. Thank you, Tip O’Neill, for pushing the funding for the Big Dig through Congress. Wish you could have seen the finished product.

Took Mom in the easy chair to stroll the parks. We parked in the International Place garage – only $10 on weekends, and you come out into this spider-web-glass enclosed atrium!
