Ames Nowell State Park, Abington, MA

Another new-to-us state park, just a 30 minute drive away in Abington. Ames Nowell State Park features miles of trails around Cleveland Pond, formed by a dam at one end. Gorgeous fall day, lots of families and photographers – even a professional photog posing families for portraits by the water. There are picnic tables, grills, benches, and lots of granite boulders for kids to climb on. We spent a good 2 1/2 hours hiking around just one side of the pond. Foliage is not yet at peak, but it was lovely, refreshing, with bright warm sunshine.

I was there earlier this year. It’s even more beautiful during the fall season.
