NYC – day 3

Friday in NYC. Started at the TKTS theater ticket booth at South St. Seaport – art is everywhere! Double click any photo for full-size.

On to the Whitney Museum of American Art.  Started with this unusual neon fountain creation-cum-windmachines.

Then lunch in the upstairs cafe, looking out on the roofdeck with views of the Highline elevated garden, Statue of Liberty in the haze, and the skyline.

Onto the art. First, Archibald Motley Jr, Jazz Age Monitor:

A few classics – Thomas Hart Benton, Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keefe:

Frank Stella Retrospective:

On to dinner and a show. Katz’s deli for the biggest matzah balls on the planet, pastrami, corned beef, and “I’ll have what she’s having.” Up to Times Square for An American in Paris, then back down to the Lower East Side for gelato.
