Mashpee, Cape Cod – 3/13/16

Sunday drive to visit a friend on the Cape. Stopped for a fix of ocean view at Popponesset Beach:

This long beach continues along a spit where they’re reconstructing the dunes that separate the ocean from the river. The dune grass plantings look like a hair transplant in progress, with rows of plugs.

After an indoor visit, we drove to nearby Waquoit Bay Research Reserve, a state park. A little woodland trail takes you down to the salt marsh and the calm waters of the bay.

Ralph’s hiking stick, known as George because of it’s resemblance to George Washington, today looks more like a baboon.

Ducks on the water, and a sandbar emerges where the bay recedes.

Peaceful water, peaceful chair.

Stopped to eat our sandwiches at a park bench overlooking the Cape Cod Cod.
